Optical Brighteners | Fluorescent Whitening Agents Whiter and Brighter
Fluorescent brighteners, also known as fluorescent agents or fluorescent bleaching agents, are fluorescent dyes (white dyes) primarily used in the textile, paper, plastics, and detergent industries.
The mechanism of action for fluorescent whitening agents: When exposed to ultraviolet light, these agents absorb UV radiation and emit blue fluorescence (at wavelengths around 410-480nm). In bright environments, this fluorescence visually counteracts yellow reflections, making surfaces appear whiter. This effect is an optical complementary color and brightening process.
Fluorescent Brightener
Fluorescent whitener is a fluorescent dye, or white dye, and a generic term for a class of compounds. It is characterized by its ability to stimulate incident light to produce fluorescence, so that the dyed substance obtains a sparkling effect similar to that of fluorite, making the substance white to the naked eye.
